Scrapbooking- HAITI: ROYALTY NO.4

For the past few weeks now , I have been dancing around the idea of a small project dedicating to the style,fashion and architectural aspects of life in Haiti from the 40's and on. This idea originated from the curiosity to know more and discover life in Haiti after I stumbled across this magnificent lost photograph documenting life in the national palace during the Duvalier era. I jumped at the opportunity to research and discover Haiti's fashion, style and architectural interior in the early 40's and beyond. Digging deep to learn more about the country's roots of tailors and seamstresses. What I love  about these photographs is that they depict style, elegance and class. These captivated moments only enriched my curiosity to learn more and  discover the rich history of this beautiful country. From Haiti's beauty Queen of the the 60's Claudinette Fouchard to the First Lady Michelle Bennett Duvalier early 70's ; Wife of President Jean Claude Duvalier. So this short sunday post is a small collection of photographs for this project that I am so excited to work on. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

LIFE IS A BOWL OF CHERRIES

INSPIRATION

Life is just a bowl of cherries;

Don't make it serious;

Life's too mysterious.

You work, you save, you worry so,

But you can't take your dough when you go, go, go.

So keep repeating it's the berries;
The strongest oak must fall.
The sweet things in life
To you were just loaned,
So how can you lose what you've never owned?
Life is just a bowl of cherries,
So live and laugh at it all.

Well let's be honest life is not all sunshines and rainbows all the time. As we float through the days, they are not always sweet and easy. I think for me personally it is always important to remember the good times when life trips you down because in many ways it helps you get through the temporary setbacks. "Life just a bowl of Cherries so live and laugh at it all"
I think what anyone can take from this and apply to themselves is to never take anything more serious than it should be. The relationships ,friendships that did not work out,  the rejections and misfortunes just let them all go because life is too short  and unpredictable to dwell on the unfortunate past.
Instead choose each day to focus on the future , dream big, push through and smile through it all.
The notion to live life to its fullest is definitely essential . When you try your best to be carefree and happy, living life lovingly and beautifully while always putting your best foot forward. Your confidence will spring through. Your attitude and outlook on everything around you will change. Its like when you put on a pair of great heels and get the instant transformation in physical appearance as well as a boost in confidence. Because those shoes suddenly make you feel like you are the tallest person on the room , you feel like a woman as powerful as can be ready to take on the world.
Remember each day that you wake up to put on those shoes, figuratively or literally and step out into the world with your shoulders high and grab the day by the sack and conquer it.Be happy with yourself and make sure that every day is sweet , carefree like a bowl of cherries.

BEADED LOVE

  This is a dress by the contemporary women's wear brand;Kensie I found on the forbidden racks of
Ross. As a shuffled endlessly through the many racks of past season goodies, with the uttermost determination to walk out of the off-price department giant with a steal on my very first visit.
Then it was as if the stars were suddenly aligned , I stumbled upon this little beaded Peter Pan collar Plain Jane dress at an unbelievable price of 19.99 . Now you tell me if that's not a Bargain. I picked it up quickly and proceed to engage in a very intense stare down searching for any rips, defects or stains but with the exception of the wrong size there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you knew me you would acquire the sensible knowledge that I would never buy anything without slipping it on first. Contrary to many belief , just because a dress might look like it fits does not mean it will fit your particular body frame , and in my case it was an unwanted size small, I much would have preferred a medium. Anyways, You know the shameless thing we girls do when we knowingly buy a shoe that doesn't fit properly because it has the cuteness factor at a great bargain. Well I thought about it, and felt guilty thinking of past mishaps. I opted out of the opportunity to the fitting room and placed the dress back on the rack fearing that it may not fit properly and I would be utterly crushed. Then I noticed in the corner of my eye a very petite woman watching me and little Peter Pan closely. Then just as I had thought , "awesome dress, if you don't get it I will" she said and proceeded to laugh hysterically . I felt like I was in that scene of Confessions of a Shopaholic, you know the one where Rebecca Bloomwood engaged in a quarrel over the Gucci boots at the designer sample sale.
"Do I really need it" I asked myself . Of course I do! It's a $20 dress. Then I said "back off lady".
Well ok maybe I did not use those exact words. I smiled and said that I'm taking it, ceasing the opportunity to be frugal, to win and most importantly to walk away with a great dress. Luckily it was the perfect fit.Whoever said life is not a movie have never had a Rebeca Bloomwoood moment.

Gold Rush On The Bay

  Today’s jewelry deets while awkwardly holding on to the last strawberry. Left hand ring count      today… A record of 4. lets see how many I end the day with. I lose my stackable rings quite often sadly . who doesn’t right .. which is why I went to target and the dollar store recently to look for more ceramic bowls to put my rings in the moment I get through the door at the end of the day. A little closet organizing trick I learned from the wonderful world of Pinterest. Ill take a few shots of those soon. It’s a nifty trick I promise. I Decided to wander and explore some sights in Miami that I pass by everyday on my way to work but never seem to have the time to stop. #BaysideMarketplace. Spent a little over an hour browsing some cool shops, snack on some tasty treats and snapped a few quick shots of the wonderful scenery by the water. Afternoon well spent 🙈🍓🙊 #Rings #necklace #fruits #miami #Midtown #designdistrict #urbanoutoutfitters #francescascollection #H&M #AmericanApparel
